“Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” director J.J. Abrams said fans still don’t know what’s going to happen in the forthcoming “Star Wars film.

  • “The (trailers) that have come out are scratching the surface of what the movie is,” Abrams told Entertainment Weekly in an exclusive piece that dropped Tuesday.

Abrams said that the film is still in post-production. It’s not even complete yet.

  • “We always knew we were going to have three fewer months to postproduction this film. ... So much is still being worked on. It’s literally a practical race to get it finished.”

Abrams told Entertainment Weekly that he feels “infinitely better” about wrapping up “Rise of Skywalker” than when he was wrapping up “The Force Awakens.”

Per Collider, Abrams said that there were fewer reshoots with the new film, too.

  • “We had more reshoots on Episode VII than this one,” Abrams said, according to Collider. “We had more story adjustments on VII than this one. We didn’t know if these characters would work, if the actors would be able to carry a Star Wars movie. There were a lot of things we didn’t know. On this, we knew who and what worked, and everyone is doing the best work I’ve ever seen anyone do.”

Cast: “Rise of Skywalker” stars Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Keri Russell, Oscar Isaac, John Boyega and more.

Release: “Rise of Skywalker” drops Dec. 19.
