Marvel’s ‘Young Avengers’ may be coming to Disney+

If you read the tea leaves, it looks like “Young Avengers” may be on tap for Disney and Marvel

Marvel Studios might be working on a project featuring the Young Avengers group, and it might come sooner than you think.

Variety reported this week that Hailee Steinfeld has been offered the role of Kate Bishop for the upcoming Disney Plus series “Hawkeye.” In the comics, Bishop takes on the role and replaces Clint Barton (played by Jeremy Renner in the Marvel Cinematic Universe) as the superhero.

It’s still unclear what the series will be about and how the show will focus Kate and Clint’s stories.

But the decision to add Kate Bishop to the fold may hint at an even bigger move by Marvel — adding the Young Avengers to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The Young Avengers are a young superhero group from the Marvel comics who team up to fight against evil.

As The Hollywood Reporter explained, the most common iteration of the group includes Iron Lad (a teenager version of the villain Kang the Conqueror, who uses armor created by Tony Stark); Stature (Cassie Lang, the daughter of Scott Lang, or Ant-Man, who uses the same nanotech as her father); Hulkling (who can shapeshift and looks like a young Hulk); Wiccan (a magical child of Scarlet Witch); Patriot (who is the grandson of someone who received the same super soldier serum as Captain America); and, you guessed it, Kate Bishop.

Sounds like a jam-packed lineup. But the group hasn’t seen much spotlight in the comics.

“Outside of a one-page story in last month’s Marvel Comics No. 1000, the team hasn’t been a going concern for some time, having essentially been mothballed by Marvel with members either disappearing into creative limbo or being placed elsewhere in the publishing line,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

But recent hiring decisions and a few plot choices in “Avengers: Endgame” may hint that the Young Avengers may hit the stream screen of Disney Plus in the new future. In fact, both The Hollywood Reporter and Marvel Studios rumor site Full Circle have hinted that this might be the case.

For one, Cassie Lang already exists in the universe. An older version of the character appeared in “Avengers: Endgame,” so it wouldn’t be a wild decision for her to take on the Ant-Man tech to become Stature.

Kate Bishop appears to be in the works for the “Hawkeye” series, as we’ve mentioned above.

Wiccan could soon appear in the upcoming “WandaVision” Disney Plus show, which will tell the story of Vision and Scarlet Witch together.

And since the Skrulls — a shapeshifting alien race — appeared in “Captain Marvel,” it is possible Marvel “has already set for a Hulking introduction as well,” according to

That said, it’s unlikely the new show would come anytime soon. Disney and Marvel have already announced a slew of projects from now until 2022 that will fill up Disney Plus screens and movie theaters for months to come.

“As with any other rumors and reports this day in age, you should probably take the rumors with a grain of salt though it’s apparent Kevin Feige and his Marvel Studios team are busy working on all kinds of projects,” according to “Within the past month and a half alone, the outfit has announced six feature films and eight shows that will help launch Disney’s fresh new direct-to-consumer streaming platform.”
