The Marvel Cinematic Universe will expand even more later this year with the arrival of “The Eternals.” But an eagle-eyed fan may have spotted an “Eternals” reference in a previous Marvel film.

  • What’s going on: A Marvel fan shared a photo on Reddit of a scene from “Thor: Ragnarok” that appears to show a spaceship that looks similar to one flown by the Eternals group in an old comic book.
  • The scene occurs when the characters arrive on Sakaar. A green-and-pink ship flies by in the background.
  • Interestingly, the ship looks like the one flown by the Eternals group in Jack Kirby’s run of the comic book series.
  • See the photo below.

Context: “The Eternals” will reportedly be a wide-ranging film that spreads throughout the cosmos, which is similar to what happens in the actual comic book material, according to ComicBook.com.

  • Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige (via ComicBook.com): “It is a very big movie. It is a very expensive movie. And we are making it because we believe in (director Chloe Zhao’s) vision and we believe in what those characters can do and we believe we need to continue to grow and evolve and change and push our genre forward,” says Feige. “That’s a risk if I’ve ever heard one.”

Release: “The Eternals” hits theaters on Nov. 6, 2020.
