The good news for Disney fans — Disneyland’s Grand Californian Hotel is reopening in December.
Bad news for Disney fans — you have to be a club member to get a room.
What’s going on?
- These members have a “timeshare-style membership where people buy a certain amount of points that they use annually to book rooms at Disney properties anywhere from Hawaii to Orlando,” according to SFGate.
- Per The Orange County Register, no Disneyland hotels are open to non-club members until at least Dec. 23.
Similar in Florida
Walt Disney World reopened a number of hotels for Disney Vacation Club members back in June. Some of the hotels aren’t completely open but there are a number that are operating under normal circumstances, according to SFGate.
Why isn’t Disneyland reopened?
Disneyland is one of several major theme parks in California that has not reopened amid the pandemic. California issued state guidelines that only allow parks to reopen when their county becomes less restrictive.
- Dr. Clayton Chau, the director of the Orange County Health Care Agency, said in a statement to the Deseret News that he doesn’t see Orange County — where Disneyland is located — reaching the yellow tier until 2021.
