Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s daughter is joining the WWE — and she’ll be the first fourth-generation WWE wrestler
Simone Johnson is following a family tradition
Simone Johnson has decided to follow a family tradition and has begun training with the WWE, according to CNN.
Not only was her father, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, a former WWE wrestler, but also her grandfather and great-grandfather, CNN reported.
This makes her the first fourth-generation wrestler in the history of the WWE.
“So proud,” Johnson wrote of his 18-year-old daughter on Instagram. “Live your dream. Let’s work.”
Simone Johnson is currently in training at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, according to Fox News.
“To the little girl who fell in love with wrestling & said ‘this will be my life one day,’ this is for you,” Johnson shared on Instagram, adding, “I’m humbled, grateful & ready to work. Let’s do this.”
“Simone is a wonderful girl,” said WWE assistant head coach Sara Amato in a statement, according to CNN. “She’s like a sponge, it’s pretty amazing. She knows what it takes to succeed and all the hard work and sacrifice that goes into it. I wouldn’t have expected anything less.”
Rocky “Soul Man” Johnson and Peter Maivia, Simone Johnson’s grandfather and great-grandfather, are both a part of the WWE Hall of Fame, CNN reported.
“To know that my family has such a personal connection to wrestling is really special to me and I feel grateful to have the opportunity, not only to wrestle, but to carry on that legacy,” Simone Johnson said in a statement, according to HuffPost.
