Google aired a commercial during the Super Bowl that had people on social media shedding tears.

What happened: The new Google spot included an 85-year-old grandfather using Google to help him remember details of his partner, Loretta.

  • Mashable said: “The narrator is an old man asking Google to remember details about his life with his deceased wife, — like the vacations they shared together and how she hated his mustache. He also uploaded photos of them together throughout their marriage, culminating in a sappy, but not maudlin, look into this (fictional) couple’s marriage.”

Social media reaction: There’s no way to independently verify this but social media members said they cried because of the commercial.

Bigger picture: Donny Deutsch told The New York Times: “The ads that people remember most over time are the simplest ads with human stories, and that was missing for the most part.”
