On Tuesday, Apple announced a reboot of the famous “Fraggle Rock” television program called, “Fraggle Rock: Rock On!”

What’s the news:

  • The new show will feature the beloved stars of the original, including Gobo, Red, Boober, Mokey, Wembley and Uncle Traveling Matt.
  • The characters will return for new stories and songs for the show.
  • The show synopsis reads: “While the Fraggles might be in different parts of the Fraggle Rock caves, they can still find ways to have fun together, with music, silliness, special guests, and of course the help of devices created by the industrious Doozers — lovingly called the Doozertubes!”
  • “Fraggle Rock: Rock On!” was shot on iPhone 11 cameras due to social distancing and stay-at-home orders, according to Apple.
  • New miniepisodes will launch on Apple TV Plus every Tuesday.

Why it matters:

  • “Fraggle Rock” may have some struggles gaining an audience since it is somewhat of a niche product.
  • Engadget reports: “Whether or not Apple TV Plus subscribers at large will watch the show remains to be seen, but ’80s babies will likely be curious to revisit the caves and creatures, and children who have never heard of ‘Fraggle Rockmay even be amused by the silly characters and catchy tunes.”
