Disney closed all of its parks due to the coronavirus pandemic back in March. But at least one light still shines — the one inside Walt Disney’s apartment at the Disneyland Fire Department building.
Disneyland Park president Rebecca Campbell posted a photo of the Disneyland Fire Department building, showing the lantern inside Walt Disney’s second-floor apartment still shining.
Campbell wrote: “Inside Walt Disney’s apartment overlooking Town Square at Disneyland, a light has shone through the window above the firehouse for decades. It glows as a source of inspiration to our cast and our guests as a remembrance of the man who once looked out that window to the sights of happy families making memories below. Today, even in a world filled with so much uncertainty, that light still shines, bright as ever. I’m looking forward to the day when families can make memories once again.
Some additional context:
- There are a number of areas within the park that remain open and operating despite the closures to the general public. For example, Disney shared videos of cast members still raising the flags for the park. The videos were released early into the parks’ closures.
- According to a report from Reader’s Digest, a few other events happened. A baby zebra was born at the Animal Kingdom. There have also been virtual ride videos for Big Thunder Mountain and the Incredicoaster.
- Disney has also shared a number of recipes for food you can buy at the park, like the Churro Bites, the “frozen pineapple treat” that is a lot like the Dole Whip, and a grilled cheese sandwich you can buy at Toy Story Land.
