Katy Perry and Taylor Swift’s feud may be pushing daises for the last time.
Social media rumors suggest Swift and Perry will be releasing a collaborative single in the near future. The rumors began once Perry announced her new single, called “Daisies.” Not long after, Swift posted a picture wearing a shirt that had daisies on it.
Perry told Extra that answers about the single are on the way.
“Well, you’re just gonna have to tune in to ‘Idol‘ next week to see all rumors, true or false,” she said as her co-stars laughed. “But what I can tell you is we all had plans to do different things a couple months ago and had to pivot. … I’m really excited personally, because my team and I have come up with a really innovative way to perform the new song ‘Daisies’ that comes out on Friday.”
Want more evidence? The “American Idol” Twitter account tweeted about the single.
“We can’t wait to play this like 1,989 times in a row.”
“1,989” seems a all-too-coincidental reference to “1989,” an album by Taylor Swift.
Perry and Swift had a well-documented feud that has since been put to rest. The two used to be best friends. But the drama began over tour dates and dancers. The two buried the hatchet in 2019, ending the battle, as I wrote for the Deseret News.
Swift said, “When we saw each other, it was just very clear to both of us that everything was different, that we had grown up, and that we had grown past allowing ourselves to be pitted against each other, and it just was very, very clear that we remembered how much we had in common,” Swift told BBC Radio 1. “So, both of us have been in a really good place for a while, but I don’t think either of us really knew if we were ever going to talk about it publicly.”
Rumors have circulated for years that Perry and Swift would end all feud discussion with a collaborative song. In fact, in April 2019, Swift suggested she was dropping a new album with pictures of cotton candy, which ignited rumors that she was going to team up with Perry, who has often used cotton candy in her images, too.
