When it comes to fried chicken, Utah just leveled up.

Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers, the popular Louisiana-based fast-food chain, will be getting its first Utah location, in West Valley City. The announcement was made via Facebook on Wednesday by Mountain West Commercial.

The new Raising Cane’s will be at Mountain View Business Plaza, located at 3300 S. 5600 West in West Valley City.

For local Raising Cane’s fans, the announcement was momentous. Until now, the closest Raising Cane’s locations were in Colorado and Nevada.

Founded in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in 1996, Raising Cane’s has become ubiquitous throughout the American Southwest, Midwest and South — thanks in part to its menu, highlighted by the Texas Toast, Cane’s Sauce and titular Chicken Fingers.

According to the chain’s founders, Todd Graves and Craig Silvey, Raising Cane’s started as a business plan in a college course at Louisiana State University, and got the worst grade in the class: “the professor said a chicken finger restaurant would never work. The banks said the same.” But as the saying goes, winner winner chicken dinner.

Mountain West Commercial has not yet announced when the new Raising Cane’s will open. So for now, we salivate.
