Fortnite is capping off it second season and beginning its third season with yet another major event.

What’s happening:

  • Fortnite will host an event Monday that will put an end to the game’s second season for chapter 2 and begin its third season.

What time does it start?

  • The event starts at 2 p.m. ET (noon MT).
  • Epic Games suggests gamers show up 30 minutes early to preserve a location for the event.

Where to watch:

  • You’ll want to log into Fortnite to watch the event first-hand.
  • Twitch and Mixer streamers might show off the moment as well while it’s happening. Ninja, NickEh30 and Bugha are three popular streamers to watch.
  • YouTube clips will likely highlight the event later.

What will happen at the event?

  • Here’s what The Verge suggested about the event: “Epic hasn’t said much about what’s to come, but mysterious hatches have appeared in the water around the Agency and a large pulsing orb can be seen in Midas’ room. It seems likely the hatches and the orb will be part of the event in some way, but in a game that has transported players to interdimensional realms, anything is possible.”

The event is a long time coming

  • Fortnite delayed the start of its third season multiple times this year, as I explained in a recent Deseret News article. The season was expected to begin in late April, early May but it was pushed back to June 4. Then, Epic Games pushed the new season back yet another week.
  • Fortnite will often kick off new seasons with in-game events. For example, the game held an event where a monster faced off with a mega-zord hero. Another event in October 2019 led to Fortnite disappearing into a black hole as well.
