CEC Entertainment — the parent company of Chuck E. Cheese and Peter Piper Pizza — announced Wednesday it plans to close 34 different locations throughout the country amid the coronavirus pandemic.

At the end of June, the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection due to the coronavirus pandemic, which forced several locations to close throughout the country, which I wrote about for the Deseret News.

  • CEC David McKillips said the COVID-19 pandemic has been “the most challenging event in our company’s history.”
  • He said the company hopes to “get back to the business of delivering memories, entertainment and pizzas for another 40 years and beyond.”

The chain had more than 555 company-owned locations and 186 franchisee spots until these closures.
