In a now-deleted video, YouTube star Jake Paul addressed the issues concerning the recent FBI raid at his Calabasas, California, home that took place earlier this month, in hopes of “setting the record straight.”
On Aug. 5, the FBI showed up at Paul’s home and the reason for it was unknown. According to The Verge, the FBI later confirmed that it was investigating “allegations of criminal acts.”
According to Fox News, “The search warrant affidavits are sealed,” prohibiting the FBI from further commenting on the issue.
In the deleted video obtained by TMZ, Paul said, “Just to clarify things and set the record straight, the FBI raid is entirely related to the Arizona looting situation that had happened.”
He also addressed the multiple rumors surrounding the raid saying, “It’s an investigation. There are rumors about it having to do with so many other things that have nothing to do with me or my character” adding, the stuff, “that people are making up is absolutely absurd,” per Page Six.
As of now, no arrests have been made regarding the situation, according to reports.
In May, Paul was charged with “criminal trespass and unlawful assembly” at the Scottsdale Fashion Square located in Arizona pertaining to a string of protests across the country following the death of George Floyd, according to Fox News.
At the time, Scottsdale police commented on the issue to Fox News, saying, “Following the riots and looting that occurred on the evening of May 30th 2020 at Scottsdale Fashion Square mall, the Scottsdale Police Department received hundreds of tips and videos identifying social media influencer, Jake Joseph Paul (23), as a participant in the riot.”
However, to allow a federal criminal investigation to take place, the charges of criminal trespassing and unlawful assembly have been dropped but they could be refiled at a later date, per Fox News.
Paul doesn’t offer any new information on the ongoing investigation and says, “My goal right now is to continue to focus on myself, boxing, music,” and thanks all of his fans “who have been sticking” by his side, according to The Verge.
