Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson recently said he’s still considering a run for president.

What happened

Johnson recently told USA Today that the idea of running for the White House is still on his mind, especially if it’s something the people want.

  • “I would consider a presidential run in the future if that’s what the people wanted,” he said. ”Truly I mean that, and I’m not flippant in any way with my answer. That would be up to the people. ... So I would wait, and I would listen. I would have my finger on the pulse, my ear to the ground.”

Context

Johnson’s comments come ahead of “Young Rock,” a new sitcom that will follow the life of, well, The Rock. It focuses on three different time periods with The Rock played by different actors at 10, 15 and during his college years, according to CNN.

Johnson appears in the show as an older version of himself, recounting the events of his life.

Per The Ringer, the new sitcom appears to hint at a Johnson presidential run, too. “More curiously is the narrative device that holds it all together: Johnson is relaying all this information about his upbringing in the year 2032, when he’s running for president.” So it may not be just a sitcom — it might really be a hint at what’s coming.
