“When Calls the Heart” star Erin Krakow recently said she supports Lori Loughlin’s potential return to the Hallmark Channel show, but didn’t give any specifics about when the return might happen.

What’s going on?

Krakow — who plays the main character Elizabeth on “When Calls the Heart” — told Fox News in a new interview that she supports Loughlin coming back to the show.

  • “Well, I sure hope so,” Krakow said. “Real life Abigail is one of my dearest friends. Her name still hangs on a sign above the cafe. She will always be an incredibly important part of ‘When Calls the Heart.’ I would love to see her character back in Hope Valley again. We’ve got a lot more exciting stories that we could tell with her.”

Context

Hallmark cut ties with Loughlin following the news of the college admissions scandal. Loughlin and her husband, Mossimo Giannulli, were accused in April 2019 of paying $500,000 in bribes so that their daughters, Olivia Jade and Isabella Rose Giannulli, could be team crew recruits for the University of Southern California.

  • The couple pleaded not guilty before flipping their plea in spring 2020.
  • Loughlin served a two-month sentence at the end of 2020 and wrapped up her sentence at the beginning of 2021.
  • Giannulli is still serving his prison sentence and his expected to finish it in April.

Recent rumors, explained

There have been some rumors that Loughlin will return to “When Calls the Heart.” Both Us Weekly magazine and PopCulture had headlines that suggested she might be making a return.

In addition to all of that, unnamed sources told People magazine that Loughlin wants to return to acting after her husband is released from prison in April.

And Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton recently approved the request for Loughlin to receive her passport back. This is significant since “When Calls the Heart” films in Canada.
