“Star Wars” has a new project on the way called “Acolyte,” which will center around Sith worshippers during the time of the High Republic. So what does that mean for the ongoing “High Republic” series of novels and books?
“Star Wars” author Cavan Scott — who is writing a Marvel comic for “The High Republic” series — told ComicBook.com that the announcement of the “Acolyte” series did not change how the “High Republic” writers planned out the series.
- Scott said that his team had been working on “High Republic” for years so there shouldn’t be any problems between the two.
- Scott said the “High Republic” era lasts a long time, so it doesn’t mean the Acolyte will bump up with “High Republic,” book series either.
Context
Disney announced the new “Star Wars” series in December 2020, which I wrote about for the Deseret News. The series was described as “a mystery-thriller that will take the audience into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark side powers in the final days of the High Republic era.”
- There’s some ongoing speculation that the new series will focus on Darth Plagueis and the rise of Darth Sidious, who we know now to be Emperor Palpatine, as I described for the Deseret News.
- The timeline would work because the “High Republic” series takes place about 200 years before the prequel trilogy (it leads right into the prequel trilogy as far as the timeline goes). So if “Acolyte” took place about 20 to 30 years before the prequel trilogy, it could, theoretically, still take place in the “High Republic” era.
