A documentary spanning two decades of Kanye West’s life has been purchased by Netflix, Variety reports.
The untitled project is being produced by Clarence “Coodie” Simmons and Chike Ozah, two directors who worked closely with West early in his career, the New York Post reports.
The site adds that the documentary, structured as a multipart series, will become available on Netflix later this year. Vulture reports that, in addition to exploring West’s early career in Chicago, the series will also tackle his work in fashion and move into politics, including his failed presidential campaign in 2020. It is unclear at this time whether the documentary will address the artist’s ongoing divorce with Kim Kardashian.

Early reports of the Netflix acquisition state that the streaming service paid $30 million for the project, Variety states, though the site’s own sources state that figure is inaccurate. It is unclear at this time whether the actual figure was higher or lower, and Vulture reports that neither Netflix nor West have commented on the deal.
West is the latest musician to join the pop star documentary boom, The Guardian reports. Previous projects covered figures like Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Demi Lovato, Billie Eilish, Tina Turner, Katy Perry and Shawn Mendes.
In March, West won his first gospel Grammy for his 2019 album “Jesus Is King.” The occasion marked the artist’s 22nd career Grammy win and his first since 2013.
