Actress Salma Hayek recently opened up about her battle with COVID-19, saying she nearly died from her experience.

Hayek told Variety she was isolated for seven weeks in her London house after she caught COVID-19 in the beginning of the pandemic. She required oxygen to fight off COVID-19, too.

  • “My doctor begged me to go to the hospital because it was so bad. I said, ‘No, thank you. I’d rather die at home,’” Hayek told Variety.

She said she still hasn’t recovered all of her energy from her battle with the coronavirus, though, according to NBC News.

Hayek said she eventually returned to acting after battling COVID-19. Specifically, she joined the cast of Ridley Scott’s “House of Gucci,” which focuses on the murder of Maurizio Gucci, HuffPost reports.

“It was not a lot of time,” Hayek said. “It was easy. It was the perfect job to just get back into it. I had started doing Zooms at one point, but I could only do so many because I would get so tired.”
