Disney Parks recently unveiled a first look at the statue of President Joe Biden, which will soon be added to The Hall of Presidents at Magic Kingdom Park in Walt Disney World.
Is President Biden at The Hall of Presidents?
Disney said it has been working on the Biden figure for months now. Biden recorded a message at the White House just for the attraction, Disney said.
- “Next time you visit, you may notice the table next to President Biden is adorned with a few special items, each with their own significance to the President — including peach blossoms to represent his home state of Delaware and a pair of aviators as a nod to his proclivity for the sunglasses,” according to Disney Parks.
Biden’s addition comes after rumors that Disney has considered closing The Hall of Presidents, as I wrote for the Deseret News.
What happens to former president Donald Trump?
Disney Parks said Trump’s statue will stay on stage with previous presidents.
- “And for those who are curious about what happens to presidents at The Hall of Presidents after their term has ended, the Audio-Animatronics figure of former President Donald J. Trump will take its place on stage among those who have previously served,” according to Disney Parks.
Trump, Disney controversy
Trump’s statue didn’t arrive at The Hall of Presidents until December 2017, which was nearly one year after he was inaugurated, The New York Times reports.
- At the time, there were some theories that the figure was delayed because Disney wanted to silence Trump, according to The New York Times. There was also some indication that Trump had not recorded dialogue for Disney, which delayed the release of the statue.
