Ye — the rapper formerly known as Kanye West — has been named the main suspect in a battery investigation, the Los Angeles police department told CBS News.

The news: The investigation stemmed from an incident that happened in Los Angeles on Thursday morning at the Soho Warehouse, a members-only club in Los Angeles.

  • Police visited the spot at 3 a.m. No one was arrested.

What happened: Per TMZ, Ye argued with someone who asked him for an autograph outside the club. Ye then pushed and hit the man, per TMZ.

  • Video footage — which was  “shot sometime between Wednesday night and Thursday morning,” per TMZ — shows what appears to be an aggravated Ye yelling, “Did y’all say that or not? Did y’all say that or not?” and “Cuz that’s what happened right (expletive) now.”

Next up: Los Angeles police said the incident is being investigated as a misdemeanor battery, which could lead to a maximum jail sentence of 6 months, according to Variety. He has not been arrested.

Something to note: Ye was recently announced as a headliner for the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, the first time the concert has happened in two years, according to the Deseret News.
