The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has moved a recall involving Cal Yee Farm chocolate and yogurt products to the highest risk level.

On Dec. 12, 2024, Cal Yee Farm, a California-based company, announced a recall on a variety of products, including dark chocolate walnuts, apricots and yogurt-coated almonds, after the FDA discovered that they weren’t labeled properly.

The products had undeclared milk, soy, wheat, sesame, synthetic dye and almonds in them that could cause severe allergic reactions, per the company announcement.

Then, last week, the FDA increased part of the recall to the highest risk level after concluding that undeclared milk in three treats could cause “serious adverse health consequences or death,” as People reported.

“According to the FDA’s Enforcement Report for the week of Jan. 29, Cal Yee Farms’ dark chocolate walnuts, dark chocolate almonds and dark chocolate apricots have now been given a Class 1 recall classification,” the article said.

There were no illnesses reported when the original recall was announced in December, according to the FDA.

Where were the products sold?

According to the FDA, the affected Cal Yee Farm products were distributed across nine states, including California, Arizona, Virginia, New Mexico, Texas, Tennessee, Oregon, Ohio and Pennsylvania.
