To "oh please," who asked why I would waste time on Jessica Simpson's visit when there are so many other important things going on: Bingo! You accidentally stumbled on my point.
Weber High teachers should ask themselves why they are wasting precious school time on Jessica Simpson when there are so many more important things to teach.
But now -- on to more important things.
A group has started an initiative petition to remove the state's semi-flat tax system.
I've been an opponent of the flat tax, despite some of its apparent strengths. I can't get over the fact that people on the low end of the pay scale who qualify to pay will shoulder a bigger burden relative to the wealthy. Just because everyone pays the same percentage, that doesn't make things fair.
I'm wondering how many of you feel you're actually paying less income tax to the state under this new system than in the past. Do you think the semi-flat tax (with its exemptions for mortgages and charitable giving) is the way to go?
