Given the overwhelming evidence that Donald Trump has broken the law, it is time for Congress to vote to impeach him.

For three years, we have watched Trump thwart the rule of law, obstruct justice and make a mockery of our Constitution — but the latest news of Trump’s solicitation of foreign election interference in the 2020 election marks a new low to his corruption and abuse of power.

Thanks to multiple whistleblowers, we know that Trump pressured the president of Ukraine to dig up dirt on a potential 2020 challenger. He then threatened to withhold military aid to make sure Ukraine complied.

The American people are sick and tired of Trump’s assault on our democracy — and we expect our lawmakers to move forward quickly with the impeachment process and also handle the everyday issues that are important to voters. The impeachment process is only an effective check on power if lawmakers choose to use it.

Failing to hold Trump accountable would send a signal to this lawless president that he’s free to break the law with impunity.
