Mark Twain’s observation bears repetition: An investigation at the hands of the Congress of the United States “simply becomes matter for derision. One might as well set the gentlemen detained in the public prisons to trying each other.”

The impeachment proceedings have kept our selfless public servants from the need of doing any honest work. No doubt, the inmates all voted their conscience.
