It’s truly unbelievable that Gov. Gary Herbert called a special session so a poorly constructed tax reform bill, rushed through the process, could be passed.
Many were and are opposed to the current bill, but that made no difference to our representatives. Several representatives have stated it’s not a great plan, but it’s a start. The bill is inequitable and there are too many unknown consequences.
I believe Gov. Herbert said it was “moral leadership.” Moral representation is to serve their constituents, not personal agendas or special interest groups. Tax reform may be needed, but the time should be taken to make it equitable for all.
