The unfolding drama that occurred in the House of Representatives, with no bipartisan support for the result yet with elevated language that attempted to convey the support of the “American people,” shows that the meaning of the word impeachment will merely be a political “reprimand” from the majority party in the House of Representatives.
It took a lot of time and a lot of people to get there, but that seems to have been the result. No need to think the history books will look back at this as a historic situation — it is divisive politics as usual in our time in United States history.
