Our nation and the Constitution are imperiled by what is happening. Stop, for a moment. Look.

Take the Sixth Amendment. It calls for witnesses to be allowed. But, the Senate is refusing witnesses. Constitution aside, how do you ever expect justice if you do not allow witnesses to testify?

The Sixth Amendment also says that in all trials, juries shall be impartial. Mitch McConnell has said he will not be impartial. In fact, he has said he will follow Trump’s direction. How do you take all your orders on how to run the trial from the defendant and expect justice?

How has our nation arrived at this point? There should be no debate here. It is clear as day that what is going on is clearly wrong.

I think of the story of the frog getting in cool water and then the heat coming and boiling the frog. Whereas if he had just jumped in the scalding hot water to begin with, he would have realized how hot it was and jumped out. We arrived where we are by listening to Trump, and accepting and endorsing a little and then a little more. Eventually, we’ve ended up in the hottest of boiling water and we don’t even realize it.
