Letter: No question about impeachment

Letter to the Editor Deseret News

I find it hard to believe that there is even a debate over whether or not the president of the United States should ask a foreign leader to assist his personal attorney in the investigation of a political rival. The answer should be a clear, bipartisan “no.”

Now is the time for our elected officials, especially Republicans serving in the Senate, to make it clear that Donald Trump has two options: resign from the presidency or face potential removal through impeachment.

If we are to regain a moral footing from which our government can lead, such a step is absolutely necessary. And doing so soon will allow the Republican Party time to run a more morally and ethically fit candidate in the 2020 elections, thus providing peace of mind to those fearing a Democratic president.
