I read with interest Sen. Lee’s reaction to the briefing he attended concerning the Iran hostilities. He felt the briefing was “insulting” and “demeaning” when told, “Do not debate, do not discuss the issue of the appropriateness of further military intervention against Iran. If you do, you will be emboldening Iran.” Sen. Lee continued, “They were in the process of telling us that we need to be good little boys and girls and not debate this in public. I find that absolutely insane. It’s un-American, it’s unconstitutional and it’s wrong.”

Well said senator. I feel exactly the same way about how Sen. Lee is acting with the impeachment hearings. I am insulted and demeaned when he states that we shouldn’t allow testimony of witnesses with firsthand information and when he is more concerned about defending party than the law — even after an independent government agency stated plainly that Donald Trump did, in fact, break the law.

Sen. Lee is in essence telling his constituents to be “good little boys and girls” and not hear the full debate and evidence in public. This is “insane, un-American and it’s wrong.” Why not let the full scope of documents and witnesses prove his innocence or guilt?

If our elected leaders refuse to find all the facts and defend unethical and illegal behavior, we are most definitely emboldening the continuation of that behavior and telling the president the rules don’t apply to him. If elected leaders defend this behavior, they are unworthy of their office.
