Letter: The Deseret News paper has been our loyal mealtime companion

Kristin Murphy, Deseret News

As the year draws to a close, along with an era of daily publication of the Deseret News, I must take a minute to thank the editors, writers, reporters and all staff and carriers of the paper who in any way have contributed to the publication of this paper.

My husband and I have been subscribers since moving to Orem in 2004. We started each day reading the paper as we ate breakfast. Floyd let me read the sports first while he read the funnies. What didn’t get read at breakfast was read during lunch and dinner. The contents made for great discussion during the day.

Thanks to Dick Harmon, Jeff Call and, lately, Jay Drew for your reporting on BYU sports. We have been BYU alumni fans since our days there as students and have looked forward to their articles each day.

I will miss the daily paper and will try to adapt to online reading, although it won’t be the same as reading the actual paper. I will look forward to the weekly edition. Thanks to all involved in its publication of timely news.
