Some good and encouraging thoughts in the mayor’s letter (“A message to Utah and America from the mayor of Salt Lake City” June 4). But she lost me, and maybe others, when she explained to us that her caucasian readers had unwittingly participated in minority oppression. Speak for yourself please, mayor and avoid divisive stereotypes — that won’t solve anything. Let’s dig into the facts of these things, work together with all parties and try and fix what’s broken — not serve up a plate of racial guilt. I suspect that there is enough finger-pointing as is.
