Many conservatives are not enthused about the current president, but they are trying to justify voting for him in November. Invariably, they use some form of the “lesser of two evils” rationale. But I would suggest that, based on almost any metric, Donald Trump cannot be viewed as the lesser evil.

If you value virtue and personal morality, Joe Biden weighs in far more favorably in terms of decency, honesty, humility, compassion, religiosity and cooperation.

If you desire competence, Biden once again comes out far ahead. The past three years have shown that there is no crisis Trump cannot either cause or make worse. His handling of both the coronavirus pandemic and the ongoing protests has been inept at best.

If you favor experience, there is no comparison.

If you believe that America should work effectively with our allies and hold our opponents accountable, Biden would be a significant corrective to Trump’s disastrous international dealings.

If you are concerned about global warming, health care, pollution, gun violence, increasing inequality or unaccountable corporate influence, Biden is the only choice.

If, however, you think packing the Supreme Court with conservative justices outweighs all these other issues, I suppose Trump is your man.
