What happened in Minneapolis was a disgusting and horrific event. A police officer killed George Floyd, and if not for a cellphone video, it is likely nothing would have come of it.
The widely used oath embraced by the International Association of Chiefs of Police reads, “On my honor, I will never betray my badge, my integrity, my character or the public trust. I will always have the courage to hold myself and others accountable for our actions”.
I believe the vast majority of our law enforcement entities abide by this oath. Their commitment to put their lives on the line, to keep us safe, is something we should never take lightly.
That being said, some individuals are simply not qualified to be police officers. Be it racism or simply abuse of their perceived power, regardless, it is our duty to call them out. They need to remember — everyone has a camera.
