Love thy neighbor. As we continue to learn more about this coronavirus, wearing a mask has emerged as a key to prevent the aerosol spread, along with social distancing and hygiene efforts. My mask helps you, my neighbor, and your mask helps me avoid contagion. The CDC recently said that we could have COVID-19 under control in just a few weeks if everyone followed these guidelines.
So who is our neighbor? Certainly it is the elderly, the infirm, the poor, those with conditions putting them at higher risk. Do we need a law to wear masks to protect our neighbor? The Savior of the world already gave us the higher law 2,000 years ago: “Love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.”
Love thy neighbor. Wear thy mask.
