Letter: Despite media attacks, Trump accomplished a lot as president

President Donald Trump speaks at a campaign rally in support of Senate candidates Sen. Kelly Loeffler, R-Ga., and David Perdue in Dalton, Ga., Monday, Jan. 4, 2021.

There are those, who claim to be objective media-types in today’s reality of biased and hypocritical journalism, who excused — and even ignored — last summer’s antifa rioting and looting under the banner of dealing with alleged racial injustice in America.

This same group continuously attacks Donald Trump for the Jan. 6 incursion of the Capitol, despite the fact the attack was perpetrated by various radical forces beyond his ability to control.

These media-types conveniently ignore what Trump’s foremost challenge was as he assumed office Jan. 20, 2017 — that being an inherited military command structure which Barack Obama and his team allowed to deteriorate to such dangerously low national defense readiness levels, in terms of manpower numbers, weapons procurement, equipment functionality, discipline and mission purpose.

Trump’s other strategic accomplishments from a governmental policy standpoint include, but are not limited to: executing a viable and rational southern border protection initiative; reducing corporate and personal taxes to foster macro- and microeconomic growth; eliminating hundreds of useless bureaucratic governmental regulatory restrictions on business, commerce and industry; replacing the flawed North American Free Trade Agreement with a more efficient trilateral accord; forcing NATO members to pay their fair share to support this collective defense mechanism; combating China; providing for the diminution of ISIS; forging Middle East peace initiatives involving Israel and Arab states of the region; countering Iranian state-sponsored terrorism throughout the Middle East; and standing down from climate and pollution control accords which punished the United States yet favored China.

And now, Trump’s presidency is over. And to the question, will this mainstream media ever cease its nonstop vilification of the man? Sadly, the answer must be a resounding no.
