My heart is full this time of year during the holiday season, as I reflect on the opportunities that have led me to where I am today. I am grateful for the opportunities I sought out that have changed the trajectory of my life, and I hope you seek and act on the opportunities around you. I work at Western Governors University, where we are extremely privileged to help thousands of Utahns on their path to better employment opportunities through greater access to education and scholarships.

As an immigrant to the United States, education has been the biggest, life-changing opportunity for me. As a nontraditional adult student, I earned a bachelor’s degree in my 30s. This opportunity completely changed the course of my life and gave me greater capacity to progress professionally, participate in meaningful work and support my family.

I hope you’ll take a moment to reflect on your blessings and continue to seek out opportunities. Season’s greetings to you and yours.
