Letter: Republicans, it’s time to move on

Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, arrives at the Senate for a roll call vote to confirm Antony Blinken, President Joe Biden’s nominee to be secretary of state, at the Capitol in Washington on Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2021.

Several recent letters allude to dissatisfaction with the direction of the Republican Party. I too am a registered Republican who feels increasingly disenfranchised. This is not the party of Reagan!

The idea that the 2020 election was rigged is simply absurd on its face. For a large portion of the electorate to still believe this delusion (or “lie” if you prefer) is somehow a fact, boggles my imagination. I can understand tolerating such a theory as an election strategy, toward the attainment of a greater good, but our candidate lost and it was not because of a fraudulent election. It is time now to move on.

Only one member of the Utah delegation to Washington has had the courage to publicly admit this and has the integrity to hold this disgraced president accountable. I applaud Sen. Mitt Romney for this and wish that our other guys could do likewise, but I’m not holding my breath. Perhaps the primaries will offer me an opportunity to make my voice count.
