Letter: Sen. Romney has earned my trust

Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, attends the HELP Hearing: Implementing the 21st Century Cures Act on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., on March 26, 2019.
Cheryl Diaz Meyer, for the Deseret News

I am a lifelong Republican. My parents and grandparents were Republican, too. I support the Constitution — all of it. I don’t pick and choose. I believe in personal responsibility, self-sufficiency, equality, capitalism and fiscal responsibility. I believe the federal government has overstepped onto states’s rights. In other words, I uphold long-standing, traditional Republican values.

I also believe in making my own decisions and not being dictated to. I give loyalty when and where it’s due. It has to be earned.

Despite the claims to the contrary, Sen. Romney represents me, and many others like me. We agree on most political stands, and we have similar values. He’s a traditional, moderate Republican. Like me.
