SALT LAKE CITY — At one point in the second half, Utah Jazz radio play-by-play announcer David Locke exclaimed over the air, “This is the Utah Jazz tonight! How fun!”
Tuesday’s game against Orlando was a good example of the Utah Jazz, which was both fun and frustrating for fans.
In the end, the Jazz got hot at the right time to earn their third-straight win — 109-102 at Vivint Arena.
Here are three takeaways from the game:
• It’s often said the NBA is a game of runs. And that was precisely the case on this night. The definitive run for Utah was a game-ending 19-5 surge, which the Jazz needed because of a massive 33-8 run by Orlando. The Magic needed that type of run to take the lead after a 14-2 run by Utah, which gave the hosts an 18-point lead.
• As usual, Donovan Mitchell and Bojan Bogdanovic led the way for the Jazz. Each player scored 30 points, including 12 by Bogdanovic and 10 by Spida in the fourth quarter. Bogdanovic hit 6 of 11 3-pointers. Mitchell also added more to his ever-growing highlight reel.
• Though they gutted out another much-needed win to improve to 16-11 overall and 11-3 at home, the Jazz suffered another loss. Point guard Mike Conley left the game after playing just 19 minutes with a tweaked hamstring. He missed the past five games with hammy issues. Ingles started despite Conley’s return and finished with 16 points. Royce O’Neale added 11 points off the bench, but the reserves only scored 14 overall.
