THE TRENDS

For Colorado… The Buffaloes have raced out to a 4-0 start with wins against UCLA, Stanford, San Diego State and Arizona

For Utah … The Utes picked up their first win of the season against Oregon State. Utah has won the last three games against Colorado.

THE CRYSTAL BALL

Colorado will win if … Quarterback Sam Noyer and running back Jarek Broussard play up to the level they have been in 2020.

Utah will win if … The Utes play like they did in the first half against Washington and Oregon State. The play of quarterback Jake Bentley and running backs Ty Jordan and Devin Brumfield will be key in Utah’s offensive success.

PLAYER TO WATCH

Jarek Broussard, RB, Colorado: The sophomore running back ran for 301 yards against Arizona and has rushed for over 120 yards in each game played so far. He has scored three touchdowns in 2020. Utah’s rush defense will be put to the test.

KEY MATCHUP

Utah quarterback Jake Bentley vs. Colorado’s defense: The Buffaloes have one of the Pac-12’s best passing defenses. Colorado is holding opposing quarterbacks to just 52% completion, first in the conference, and have sacked the quarterback 11 times, good for third-best in the Pac-12. Bentley will be tested going against the Buffaloes’ defense. Linebackers Nate Landman and Carson Wells are key for Colorado. Landman has 47 tackles and four sacks and Wells has 25 tackles, 3.5 sacks and an interception.

QUOTABLE

“I know that team will probably be one of the best teams, if not the best team, that we will face so far this season. We have to be ready to play.”

— Colorado head coach Karl Dorrell

“We look at it as another challenge for us to overcome. It’s another week for us to show our dominance in stopping the run. We pride ourselves in stopping the run. We’ll do all we can to prepare the best we can this week for them.

“Colorado’s a good football team. They’re 4-0 for a reason. It’s not happenstance. They play good football. They’ve got a lot of good things going for them.”

Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham
