Here are three keys from the game.

  • The Cougars led 40-27 at halftime and controlled the second half. In the opening 20 minutes, BYU shot 59 percent to 31 percent for Utah and held advantages in rebounds, assists and bench scoring. For the game, the Cougars shot 55 percent to 36 percent for the Utes, won the rebounding battle by 16 and the assist battle by 10.
  • BYU used an extended 10-0 run in the first half to break things open and went on another run of the same length in the second half after Utah had gotten within 8.
  • The Cougars bench outscored the Utes reserves 41-16. Outside of Riley Battin, only one Utah non-starter scored, and Jaxon Brenchley scored just two points.
