PROVO — In his final meet, Jordan Tiffany went out with a bang.

The Lone Peak senior broke state records in the 100-yard butterfly and the 100-yard backstroke to cap off an incredible high school swimming career. Tiffany also assisted in the Knights’ first-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay and 400-yard freestyle relay.

“It’s kind of crazy how fast it’s gone. I feel like a week ago I was a freshman, and that was my last 100 fly I’ll swim in high school,” Tiffany said. “My whole goal and view of the meet is just to enjoy it and have fun. It’s my last chance racing with my best friends, putting on a show. I know I’ve worked my butt off. Just come here, have fun, don’t stress. It’s my last one.”

Tiffany set the state record in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 47.81. He also owns the state record in the 200-yard individual medley (1:48.75).

Tiffany’s mom, Celeste, is the head coach for the Knights’ boys team and was coaching her son to excellence in his last meet.

“It’s hard to see your seniors go, but it’s really hard to see your son be done. To go out like this is so fun to watch as a parent and to see him, knowing that he’s going to continue on,” Celeste Tiffany said.

“I looked over and saw my mom smiling — it’s my last meet with her. I heard everyone cheering. I’ve had so much support over the years and it just felt good. I’ve had some struggles this year and to come in best time, state record in front of all these people supporting me, it means the world to me,” Jordan Tiffany said.

At the end of the night, Jordan Tiffany capped off a storybook career by helping the Knights raise their fourth straight boys state championship. Lone Peak scored 277 points, finishing ahead of Westlake (204.5), who won its first trophy in school history, and American Fork (170).

Tiffany scored 40 points, along with teammate Josh Griener. Griener participated in two first-place relays and placed first in the 100-yard breaststroke and 200-yard IM.

“It’s hard to see our seniors go, but it’s awesome to see them go out like this,” Celeste Tiffany said.

On the girls’ side, American Fork claimed its third straight championship, scoring 318.5 points to finish ahead of Lone Peak (279.5) and Corner Canyon (221).

“We lost a lot of strong seniors last year and we just continued to work hard,” American Fork girls head coach Kathy King said. “We set team goals that were pretty lofty and we reminded them, almost week to week, what our goals were and that was only going to be achieved if we had everybody with us. The entire team was all-in.”

After coming up short in two big meets, there was a little bit of disappointment, but American Fork continued to take it meet by meet.

Allie Hill was phenomenal for American Fork, finishing with 40 points. Hill finished first in the 20-yard IM and 500-yard freestyle, along with assisting in American Fork’s 400-yard freestyle relay win.

“Allie is the kind of swimmer who makes up her mind, ‘This is what I need to do, and I’m going to take care of this.’ She’s human, but she’s going to give everything she has to doing what she decides to do,” King said.
