SALT LAKE CITY — During 20 days in April, the Deseret News profiled 20 elite senior athletes from the 2020 graduating class for a 20 for 20 series about how they’re handling the unprecedented scenario caused by COVID-19.

When the Deseret News spoke with many of these athletes in early April, the spring season hadn’t officially been canceled and the seniors still clung to hope the season would resume May 1.

Now that it’s officially been canceled by the UHSAA, the Deseret News asked each of the 20 seniors to tell us in their own words what high school sports has meant to them over the past three or four years and the lessons they’ve learned along the way.

COVID-19 may have robbed them of the great things they were hoping to accomplish their senior season, but the general consensus of those who submitted videos is the experiences up until the pandemic will have a long-lasting impact.
