SALT LAKE CITY — Devontae Booker will stay in the AFC West.
The former Utah running back reportedly agreed to terms with the Las Vegas Raiders, as first reported by ABC 10 Sacramento’s Sean Cunningham.
Booker was a fourth-round pick by the Denver Broncos in the 2016 NFL draft. He became an unrestricted free agent this offseason and joins a stocked Las Vegas running backs group.
During his four seasons in Denver, he amassed 1,103 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns while also proving reliable in the passing game, with 105 receptions for 872 yards and a touchdown.
His best season came as a rookie, when Booker had 174 carries for 612 yards and four touchdowns to go with 31 receptions for 265 yards and another score. Booker saw his offensive production diminish since then, though, as spent the 2019 season playing mostly special teams.
With the Raiders, Booker will have to compete against Las Vegas’ third-round selection in this year’s draft, Lynn Bowden Jr., as well as veteran Jalen Richard for a spot behind the Raiders’ star back, Josh Jacobs. Bowden had 1,816 yards from scrimmage and 14 total touchdowns last year at Kentucky, while Richard added 145 rushing yards and 323 receiving yards backing up Jacobs.
The 5-foot-10, 220-pound Jacobs burst onto the NFL scene last year, rushing for 1,150 yards and seven touchdowns with a 4.8-per carry average as a rookie. He was named to the Pro Football Writers Association All-Rookie Team.
