SALT LAKE CITY — Four golfers are tied atop the leaderboard after the first round of the Richard C. Kramer Salt Lake City Amateur Saturday at Bonneville Golf Course.
David Timmons, Zach Jones, Tyson Shelley and David Jennings each fired 3-under-par 69s on a cool, windy day at the par-72, 6,737-yard layout.
Only three other golfers were able to break par as Cooper Jones shot 70 and Ryan Brimley and Colton Tanner came in at 71. Four golfers — including 2018 champion Mitchell Schow, Dan Horner, Cameron Howe and Matthew Lupinacci — all finished at even-par 72. Defending champion Kurt Owen shot 74.
Josh Jensen leads A Flight with a 73, while Nalin Maxfield leads the B Flight at 75.
Jennings, who finished second a year ago, had a hot front nine with birdies at 1, 2 and 4 and an eagle-2 at No. 7 for a 32, but played the back nine in 37 with two bogeys and a birdie at 16.
Shelley, a senior-to-be at Skyline High, had a chance to be the individual leader, but made his only bogey of the day at No. 18.
Golfers will be re-paired according to scores with the final group going out around 2 p.m. Sunday.
