As much of the world on Tuesday remembered and honored late NBA legend Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna on the first anniversary of their deaths, Utah Jazz All-Star Donovan Mitchell found a unique way to do so.
During the Jazz’s game against the New York Knicks at Vivint Arena, Mitchell wore a pair of custom shoes, one each with the Bryants’ respective jersey numbers on them.
The white sneakers had one No. 24 in purple with a yellow background to honor Kobe Bryant’s time with the Los Angeles Lakers, and the other shoe had a white No. 2 with a black background representing the jersey Gianna Bryant wore for the Mambas, the team she played for and the one her father coached at the time of their deaths.
