It’s an announcement many have been waiting for years to hear: EA Sports will be making a new college football video game for the first time since 2013, although there will be at least one notable difference.

EA Sports’ NCAA Football series had become incredibly popular, although the new game won’t have that title as the NCAA continues to sort through issues related to name, image and likeness (states and Congress have even gotten involved), which was the driver of the game’s stoppage.

Instead, the game will be called EA Sports College Football, the company formally announced Tuesday morning.

According to Rothstein, the game won’t be coming back in 2021. Holt also told Rothstein that regarding NLI questions, “We’ll just keep tabs on everything as it develops and we’ll be ready. That won’t be a problem for us. But it’s really, that’s not an answer for us right now to decide. We’re as much passengers as anyone else.
