The Utah Utes’ receiving corps has sustained a significant blow, as multiple outlets reported on Tuesday afternoon that junior Bryan Thompson has entered the transfer portal.
A junior in 2020, the 6-foot-2, 207-pound Thompson totaled 33 receptions for 756 yards with four touchdowns in four seasons with the Utes after being a 4-star recruit out of Rancho Verde High School in California.
The most recent campaign was disappointing, however, as Thompson only totaled nine receptions for 187 yards with one touchdown (he did add an additional rushing touchdown). The yardage total was third on the team behind Britain Covey and Brant Kuithe.
Covey, Solomon Enis, Devaughn Vele and Money Parks are slated to be back at receiver for the Utes in 2021. It is not clear if Samson Nacua will be. At tight end, Kuithe, Cole Fotheringham and Dalton Kincaid are primed to also return.
