Eight boys lacrosse teams from the Wasatch Front are participating in the Battle of the Beet tournament at Jordan High School this weekend. Last year was supposed to be the first season for lacrosse as a sanctioned UHSAA sport, but that was wiped out by COVID-19.
This year’s Battle of the Beet tournament is a great early measuring stick for boys lacrosse programs across the state.
Among the winners of Friday’s early games were Syracuse and Corner Canyon, which was the No. 1 ranked team in the coaches preseason rankings.
The spring sports season officially kicked off this week in what is the busiest time of the high school calendar. Baseball, softball, boys soccer, track, girls golf, boys tennis and boys and girls lacrosse all take place during the sprint.
