The Miners took down Layton in an extra-inning battle that went back and forth before ending with a final score of 11-8 on Tuesday. Bingham flipped an early two-run deficit into a four-run lead behind an offensive outburst in the second and third innings.

The Lancers bounced back by scoring three runs to tie the game in the bottom half of the fifth. They then took the lead with another run in the sixth inning.

Bingham forced extras with a game-tying run in the seventh inning and then a great pitching performance. The Miners then scored four runs in the top of the extra inning to escape with a tough road win.

Brady Maylett was the winning pitcher while Jackson Wheeler added a double, home run, and four RBIs. The Miners now sit at 2-0 and will take the field again on Wednesday afternoon when the Mountain Ridge Sentinels visit.
